What is acne? Is it different from pimples?
Acne is a skin problem wherein the sebaceous glands get over
activated and secretes oily substances. Our face has the maximum
number of "sebaceous" glands in our body. That's why pimples are
more in a person's face than in any other part of the body.
Shoulders and chest are other parts, which could also be
affected.
Acne leaves a spot, which may sometimes be permanent or may heal
after some time. There are lots of medications available in the
market for acne. It is advised to clean your face regularly as
the oily substance along with dirt could create more problems.
Do not scratch or squeeze the acne as it might make the problem
worse. While using shampoo, try to cover the face, as chemicals
in the shampoo could irritate the acne. Don't touch the acne
regularly.
Acne is less during summer than in winter, as the skin gets some
sunshine, which helps the skin. It could take weeks, months for
a small pimple to vanish. The main cause of acne is still
unknown, but you can find lots of products in the market and on
the Internet. Acne affects nearly three-quarters of the teenage
population.
Acne could be due to hormonal changes, bacteria or hereditary.
Acne due to hormonal change is the main factor among the teens.
The hormones get over activated and produce more acne. Acne is
the medical name of pimples; they both are one and the same.
